Our Mission
It is the mission of the veterinarians and staff of Brandon Animal Hospital to provide quality veterinary services to our patients in a compassionate, competent, practical and caring manner, and to practice veterinary medicine with honesty and integrity while upholding the highest ethical standards. 

It is our goal to educate our clients in preventive veterinary medicine so they have the knowledge to keep their pets healthy, to provide our clients with clear expectations of the treatment choices and resources available to them, and to guide our clients into making wise and informed decisions regarding the care of their pets. 

Continuing education in the field of small veterinary medicine is a priority for the veterinarians and staff of Brandon Animal Hospital.

Veterinarians

Lisa Wilson, DVM, CCRT
Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Lisa Wilson graduated from Patrick Henry High School, with honors, then attended Roanoke College where she earned a B.S. in Chemistry. She Earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. Dr Wilson has worked as a veterinarian at Brandon Animal Hospital since her graduation from vet school in 1989.

In 2013 Dr. Wilson became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist when she graduated from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Wellington, Florida, in conjunction with the University of Colorado School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Wilson serves on the Board of Directors of the Emergency Veterinary Services of Roanoke. She is a member and former president of the Virginia Academy of Small Animal Medicine (VASAM). She is also a member of the Roanoke Valley Veterinary Medical Association (RVVMA), Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA.) Dr.  Wilson is very passionate about continuing education and attends seminars, classes, and conferences at every opportunity.

Dr. Wilson and husband Koy have two children, Wilson and Sara.  She enjoys horseback riding and has a history caring for, schooling, and competing dressage horses.  And, she, as an Elder and Sunday school teacher, is an active member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.​

Ann Marie Conner, DVM
​Associate Veterinarian 
​

Dr. Ann Marie Little - Conner grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  She came to Virginia as a freshman at Virginia Tech settled here permanently. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Mathematics and the Medical College of Virginia with a MS degree in Biomedical Engineering.  She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.

Dr. Conner first came to Brandon Animal Hospital in 1995 and also has worked as a small animal veterinarian in the New River Valley.  Her special interests include endocrinology and preventative medicine.

Dr Conner is currently a member of the 
Roanoke Valley Veterinary Medical Association (RVVMA), Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA.) 

She lives in Blacksburg with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, two cats, bunny and three miniature horses. She is very involved in her church and in musical activities... playing the harp, various flutes, and whistles with Simple Gifts of the Blue Ridge. She is a board member of the Down Syndrome Association of the NRV.

Derek O’Dell, DVM, FFCP (Veterinary)
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Derek O’Dell grew up in the Roanoke Valley, and graduated from Cave Spring High School and Virginia Tech with a degree in Biological Sciences.  He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Dr. O’Dell has worked as a veterinarian in the Roanoke Valley since 2014 and has been with Brandon Animal Hospital since early 2020. 

Dr. O’Dell maintains an elite level Fear Free Professional certification and enjoys helping alleviate fear and anxiety in pets that visit the veterinary office. Dr. O'Dell also has Low Stress Handling Silver Certification.  Dr. O’Dell has special interests in preventative medicine, oncology, dermatology, and internal medicine. He loves helping educate pet owners on how to become even better pet parents.  Dr. O’Dell is a member of the Roanoke Valley Veterinary Medical Association, Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Medical Association. 

Dr. O’Dell lives in Salem with his wife Laura and their daughter Maisie along with two rescue dogs (Sadie & Milo) and a diabetic cat (Somo).  He enjoys spending time with his family, landscaping, and being an avid sports fan including the Hokies.  He also enjoys being with his church family at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Sara Farthing, DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Sara Farthing is a Roanoke native who was first introduced to Brandon Animal Hospital as an infant. The daughter of Brandon Animal Hospital owner, Dr. Lisa Wilson, Dr. Farthing grew up at BAH. Brandon Animal Hospital was her regular bus stop during elementary and middle school! Dr. Farthing started working for Brandon Animal Hospital  at age 16 as a kennel attendant. She would go on to work every other job in the building, including veterinary assistant, receptionist, and now as our newest veterinarian.
 
Dr. Farthing graduated in 2014 from Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, Virginia and in 2018 from Roanoke College, earning a B.S. in Biology. She achieved her lifelong dream by earning a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022, where she finished in the top fifth of her class. She recently earned a certification in Western Veterinary Herbal Medicine, which she uses as an additional treatment tool to achieve the best possible outcomes for her patients.

Dr. Farthing takes joy in mentoring and loves to encourage future veterinary professionals. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, yoga, and being with husband Ford, cat Olive, and dog Cece.

Billing Policy
Brandon Animal Hospital does not bill or offer any in-office payment plans. Payment, in full, is due at time of service, no exceptions. 
Brandon Animal Hospital accepts payment via Cash, Check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, ScratchPay, and Cherry. Convenience Fees up to 5% may apply for using third party payment options. 
Any unpaid or past-due balance will accrue 1.5% monthly interest (18% annually) and/or monthly billing fees of $1.75. Any unpaid or past-due balance more than 30 days past the date of service will be referred to a collection agency or referred for legal debt collection. Cost of these collection services including, referral, processing, court costs, legal consultation, legal fees, etc. will be the clients responsibility.
